This kit was designed as a simple and effective way to convert cathode biased amps to fixed bias. Converting to fixed bias will give you an increase in output, headroom, and dynamic response. In plain English...notes will jump out with authority. No longer will the amp "fall on it's face" when you hit that low note. The amp will retain all of it's original tone, there will just be more of it! This is the perfect upgrade for small cathode biased amps like Fender Champ, Vibro-Champ, Tweed Deluxe, etc. This kit is compatable with a great many makes and models. Everything from the smaller Valco, Gibson, Silvertone, and Wards Airline to larger amps like the early tweed Pro. It's also an easy way to "hot rod" your 5E3 copy!

Choose the standard version for simple cathode to fixed bias conversion. Or, choose our deluxe kit which features a heavy duty toggle switch and additional instructions for "fixed/cathode switching". The Area 51 fixed bias kit features high quality Sprague capacitors and Vishay 20-turn precision cermet-element pot.

The circuit board is very small, measuring only 1 5/8" X 1 3/8". A mounting hole is pre-drilled and a 3M "bumpon" pcb spacer is affixed to the bottom. A self-adhesive pcb mount is also supplied.

This kit is designed for use with amplifiers that use a full wave rectifier. Full wave rectifiers include: 5Y3, 5AR4/GZ34, 6X4, 5U4, etc. Or, solid state rectifier if it is the full wave type. This kit is not for use with "full wave bridge" rectifier circuits.
